Welcome to the Spring 2024 installation of the Flying Solo art exhibit at the Nashville International Airport (BNA)! The exhibit is open now and runs through June 23, 2024. As a participating artist, I am thrilled to share my collection of abstract landscape paintings alongside other talented artists. This exhibit, part of BNA’s Arts at the Airport program, offers travelers a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in diverse artistic expressions while traversing through the terminal.
BNA's Arts at the Airport Program:
Established in 1988, BNA’s Arts at the Airport program has been a beacon of cultural diversity and creative talent in Tennessee. With rotating exhibits and permanent acquisitions, the airport terminal has become a dynamic space for showcasing local and international art. The Spring 2024 Flying Solo series celebrates identity and community through the lens of each artist's unique perspective. For more information, visit flynashville.com.
My Contribution to the Exhibit:
I am honored to present six original 36x36 abstract landscape paintings that reflect the enchanting landscapes of Tennessee. These pieces, displayed along a 30-foot wall in the Level 1 International Arrivals Facility (IAF) exit and Information Center hub waiting area, invite viewers to explore the beauty of our state through a contemporary lens.
Artist’s Statement:
“Inspired by the diverse landscapes of Tennessee, my collection of abstract landscape paintings resonate with a deep connection to nature, particularly the captivating beauty of my home state. Nature has always been my wellspring of inspiration, and the allure of Tennessee serves as a perpetual muse. I aim to create a serene ambiance in my abstract landscapes, leaving viewers with a profound sense of hope and joy. These paintings intricately weave the dance of light and reflection, enriched by delicate touches of 24 karat gold leaf. Layers of acrylic paint, at times blended with sand, create thick, tactile textures. Through the dynamic interplay of impasto palette knife strokes and the nuanced strokes of paint brushes, I strive to create a visual symphony that celebrates the profound beauty and emotional resonance found within the natural world.”
Where to find the exhibit:
Whether you're a local resident or a visitor passing through, I hope that my paintings inspire you to explore the natural wonders of our state and find joy in the simple pleasures of life. And if you happen to see my exhibit in person, don't forget to snap a picture and tag me on Instagram or Facebook! Remember, my art will be in the Level 1 International Arrivals Facility now through June 23rd. The exhibit is in an unsecured area, so you don't have to be flying internationally to view it. I would suggest seeing the exhibit before going through security. Upon entering the main lobby, you take the elevator or escalators to level 1. Then take a sharp right to the waiting area where my pieces will be displayed.
Additionally, should you be heading into Nashville and opting for a taxi or rideshare, you'll walk through the area where my paintings are located as you depart.
